Keep on Fishing
New Extended season regulations
Many of you know Fishing catch and release for trout continues through December 31st in three southeast Minnesota State Parks: Forestville, Whitewater and Beaver Creek. However more water is now open. Trout streams in four towns in southeast Minnesota (Preston, Lanesboro, Chatfield and Spring Valley) are open for trout catch and release within city limits. I gave it a try in Preston almost two weeks ago. It was the first cold snap. I was dressed warm but It was a bit cold. I got a rainbow on a streamer but did not land it. I quit when the sleet started. The great thing about being in town is it is so easy to find a place to warm up with warm food. There is great trout water in all of these towns and no crowds (actually no people on the stream at all) in this extended season.
